Hiking in the Adirondacks 2013

On our second weekend in New York we headed up to the Adirondacks for some hiking. We hiked up Mt. Wright (not a euphemism for my wife) and enjoyed the scenery. We had to park back a few miles from the trailhead so it ended up being a 13mi round trip. After the hike we spent some time in Lake Placid and enjoyed the area.

Hiking in the Berkshires 2013

Our first hike in the area was to hike up Mt. Greylock in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. The Berkshires weren’t too far from us and it was a great hike on a beautiful day.

Mt. Greylock is the state high point and we hiked about 6.6 miles and gained 2,100ft to get a view of Massachusetts. We ate tapas afterwards and it was delicious.

Alaska

This year, our big trip was to Alaska. We drove all over the state – Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali National Park, Kenai Wildlife Refuge, Seward, and Homer. The greatest moment was the flight around Mt. McKinley and the glacier landing – it was spectacular! Things were expensive in Alaska so we rented a mini van and slept in it. I strongly dislike camping with a tent but van camping was great; A++++ would recommend.
